How can we do this? There are many things to be considered when creating a “Green” living environment - whether it’s your bathroom or any other part of your home.

	Avoiding materials like particle board which contains formaldehyde, for example, is a good start.  There are plenty of sustainable woods which are sturdy, beautiful and free of volatile compounds.
	When choosing materials for your countertops, walls and floors you can seek out materials made from renewable sources like recycled ceramic, porcelain or glass.
	Safer and greener types of caulk are now available which reduce exposure to potential toxins.
	Newer models of toilets can significantly reduce the water usage per flush.  Many older models use as much as 5 to 7 gallons per flush, while new “green” toilets can require less than 2 gallons!
	When selecting windows and fans, make sure you look for the Energy Star label.  These products can not only help to lower your energy bill but they can also promote a healthier bathroom environment by improving ventilation.
